Dyslexia Victoria Support and Sonja Terpstra MP presented the Mandatory Phonics Screening Check for Year 1 students to the Victorian Parliament, Legislative Council.

In 2022, Dyslexia Victoria Support, alongside Sonja Terpstra MP, formally presented the DVS E-Petition for a Mandatory Year 1 Phonics Screening Check to the Victorian Parliament’s Legislative Council. At the time, Sonja Terpstra MP is the Member of the Legislative Council for the North-Eastern Metropolitan Region

This important moment was attended by Heidi Gregory, Brie Gabrielle, and our children—representing the many families who continue to advocate for evidence-based literacy instruction across Victoria.
